Environmental Project Team

Currently, the Pebble Partnership is working with a multidisciplinary team of independent consultants, over 75 per cent of whom are US/Alaskan, to ensure the Pebble Project is developed responsibly. This team is comprised of some of the most respected technical, environmental and social consultants in both Alaska and the world - all with extensive work experience both in the state and the mining industry.

The following is some further information about a selection of the consultants that The Pebble Partnership has chosen to work with during the developmental stages of the Pebble Project:

Buell & Associates
Buell & Associates is a consulting firm specializing in the biology of salmonid fishes. Over the past 30 years the company has been involved with a wide variety of projects from California to Alaska, and ranging from detailed environmental studies, fish screening and passage and stream and shoreline habitat enhancement projects to fisheries and watershed management plans. Extremely familiar with Alaskan salmonid stocks, B&A has worked with Greens Creek Mine, Fort Knox Mine, Kensington Mine, Big Hurrah (now part of Rock Creek Mine), Kodiak Airport, Alaska Pulp, the Trans-Alaska Gas System Pipeline and the Seward Ship repair facility among many others.

Knight PiƩsold
KP is an international company of consulting engineers and environmental scientists providing services to public and private sector clients in the water, power, mining, environmental, transportation and industrial sectors. Expertise is offered in the areas of civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, geotechnical and hydrological engineering, environmental studies and impact assessments, construction supervision and project management services. The international KP group was founded in 1921 and has offices in North and South America, Australia, Africa and South-East Asia.

KP established a presence in Canada in 1975, and now has 140 employees in their North Bay and Vancouver offices, with projects in SE and central Alaska, as well as the Iliamna area.

Kodiak Mapping
Based in Wasilla, Alaska, Kodiak Mapping was established in 1994 to provide mapping and consulting services for clientele that has included the US Army, the USCG, state and local governments, railroad and mining companies and numerous private engineering and surveying corporations.

KMI has four Alaskan employees and hundreds of subcontractors that assist them in larger photogrammetric projects, and the company has successfully completed hundreds of Alaska based projects spanning from Nome to Dutch Harbour.

Water Management Consultants
Water Management Consultants provides technical services in a wide range of disciplines, including hydrogeology, hydrology, geochemistry, geology, geophysics, numerical modeling environmental science, water resources planning, water engineering, GIS and database management. Formed in 1989, WMC has offices on four continents and employs approximately 150 staff.

In Alaska, they have worked on projects that include Rock Creek Property, Donlin Creek Property, and Red Dog Mine. Internationally they have also worked with clients such as Rio Tinto, BHP, Kinross, Barrick, Teck-Cominco, Anglo American, Newmont, World Bank, United Nations Development Programme, Kennecott Energy, and a number of governments and environmental agencies.
